Disney’s Animal Kingdom Themed Areas
Oasis
When entering Disney’s Animal Kingdom, visitors walk through this area to get into any of the other lands in the park, the Oasis consists of different paths leading to Discovery Island, where visitors past animal habitats such as cavy, muntjac, fish, spoonbills, ducks, turtles, giant anteaters, wallabies, hyacinth macaws, babirusa and many others you can also visit the Rainforest Cafe, which is also located at the entrance of the Oasis.
Discovery Island
Discovery Island is the center island in the park and has paths to all six of the other lands and is also the location of the Tree of Life. It is also the main land are in the park where you will see axis deer, kangaroos, flamingos, macaws, West African crowned cranes, vultures, small-clawed otters, porcupines, ducks, lemurs, Galapagos tortoise, saddlebill storks and more.
You can also view the It’s Tough to be a Bug, at the roots of The Tree of Life, which is film from A Bug’s Life shows, a 3-D Film about bugs and their daily lives.
Camp Minnie-Mickey
Camp Minnie-Mickey is the home of two shows, Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends, which is a children’s show with live animals based on the film Pocahontas and Festival of the Lion King, which is a high-energy musical performance featuring songs and characters from the film The Lion King, there is also four character greeting spots where visitors can see such characters as Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Kenai and others.
Africa
Africa is where visitors can enjoy the, Kilimanjaro Safaris, where they climb aboard an open-sided safari vehicle for an expedition, where they can see many African animals like Giraffes, Hippos, Elephants, Rhinos, Lions and other animals, that freely roam through acres of savanna, rivers and rocky hills. The second area is the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail, where visitors trek into the forest in search of gorillas, along the way, visitors will go on a nature walk through a verdant African valley filled with Nile hippos, birds and fish and enter an exotic bird aviary, a research centre with naked mole-rats along with various other rodents and reptiles, an underwater hippo viewing area, a savanna overlook and an intimate up-close encounter with a magnificent troop of gorillas.
Rafiki’s Planet Watch
Rafiki’s Planet Watch is accessible only by train and contains areas for small animals, a petting zoo with domesticated goats and exhibits teaching about conservation efforts. The veterinary hospital’s viewing window allows visitors to watch medical procedures conducted by the veterinary staff.
Wildlife Express Train allows visitors to ride the rails on this rustic African train where in just five to ten minutes, the guided train ride transports guests to the core of the park’s conservation center along the way the train travels the savanna for a behind-the-scenes journey through several animal housing and care areas of the park.
Habitat Habit, is where visitors see endangered Cottontop Tamarin primates up close, trekking down an adventure trail and learning of novel ways to help animals.
Affection Section, is where visitors can have an animal encounter with sheep, goats, llamas, pigs, chickens and more.
Conservation Station, at the trail’s end, is where visitors can visit the center of Disney efforts to promote wildlife conservation awareness, inside are a variety of wild animal experiences, interactive games and shows.
Asia
Asia is the land in the park, where visitors can four main experiences from the Asian continent;
Flights of Wonder, is where visitors join a trainee bird handler and a wayward tour guide who teach each other about the delicate state of nature and see birds up close, such as hawks, colorful macaws, vultures, crowned crane and the American Bald Eagle.
Kali River Rapids, is where visitors raft down the turbulent waters of the Chakranadi River aboard a 12-passenger raft through an enchanting Asian rain forest, visitors will ride past a blazing inferno, a rushing waterfall and geysers.
Maharajah Jungle Trek, is where visitors trek into the lush forests for an unparalleled adventure into the wilds of the mystical Anandapur Royal Forest of Southeast Asia and respective ancient ruins, having up-close encounters with the largest species fruit bats in the world, tapirs, birds, Komodo dragons and tigers.
Expedition Everest, is the location for the Everest Mountain roller-coaster attraction, in this runaway-train roller coaster, Himalayan trekkers board refurbished steam trains on their way to the base camp of Mount Everest, using a shortcut that passes through the forbidden mountain guarded by the legendary yeti.
DinoLand U.S.A.
DinoLand U.S.A. has a number of different attractions and is where visitors can experience the following attractions and shows;
The Boneyard, is where visitors slip, slide, slither and slosh through a play maze filled with fun fossils and would-be paleontologists young and old play amidst a world of dinosaur discoveries like a Wooly Mammoth, Triceratops and T-Rex.
DINOSAUR, is where visitors are swept back to primeval times for a wild ride on an expedition to complete a dangerous mission, visitors have just mere minutes to rescue a stray dinosaur, avoid the hungry clutches of one of the large meat-eating predators and the devastating power of an impending asteroid.
Finding Nemo The Musical, tells the story of the Disney - Pixar film Finding Nemo, the show combines dancers, acrobats, animated backdrops and theatrical puppetry.
Dino-Sue is a painstaking reproduction of the largest, most complete T-Rex ever found its length is the same as a four-story building, the mighty T-Rex is available to pose for pictures with visitors at the Dino institute.
Cretaceous Trail, is a walking tour amidst plant and animal survivors that have outlived the dinosaurs, visitors play with a Pachycephalosaurus, encounter living animal species that have survived since prehistoric times and discover fossil dig sites.
Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama is an area of the park made to look like a tacky 1950’s roadside attraction.
Primeval Whirl, is where visitors ride a spinning time-machine themed roller-coaster with sudden dips, hairpin turns and tight curves with each colorful car spinning independently.
TriceraTop Spin, is where visitors ride a whirling, twirling, four-person flying dinosaur.
Dino-Rama has a range of whack-a-mole and other carnival games, where visitors are charged money for each play.
